Arthemia Free, Now available for Drupal

Screenshot of Arthemia theme

The Arthemia Free theme (View the live demo for wordpress here) has been ported to Drupal.

A note: This is NOT the Arthemia Premium theme as that is a commercial theme that is not available under the GPL. The Arthemia Free theme is available under the GPL and that is what I have ported, along with making some changes along the way.

Along the way of porting, many things have been changed, hopefully for the better.

Features

  • Two column design, but can be used as a single column site too
  • drop down menu for the primary links
  • 10 User configurable regions
  • Some of those regions can be combined to use the full width of the page.
  • Improved readability of the main content.
  • local.css - Dislike anything about the theme? Simply drop a local.css file into the theme folder to override any preset css settings.
  • Ability to list upto 5 categories/points in a horizontal ribbon.
  • All the standard Drupal goodness has been preserved allowing you to freely move blocks around, change the logo and much more.
  • Admin section is both useable and looks good - Too many other themes ignore such a vital part of the site expecting the admin to have a separate admin theme. That should be an option, not a necessity, so the admin section is themed well in this theme.

Comments

I am pretty new to drupal, so please forgive any bad terminology. For the site I am creating the featured part will have articles in it. The articles wont go down the page very far, but when I start filling the space it pushes the other blocks below it down. I can see it is in the same table or cell as the headline and moves independently of that. How do I have it get longer when populated and not move any other blocks.

Prob a simple answer, but I have been stuck on this for a while, unfortunately.

Thanks

That is not possible with the current design - the featured column will stay above the normal content and sidebar columns.

From what you are saying, it may be easier for you to put the headline content in the content_top region and then put the featured block in the sidebar.

Can the 5 categories portion at the top be seen only on the home page? If not is there a way to make it only on the home page?

Can the 5 categories portion be moved to somewhere else like the bottom or middle of the page? Is there a block for this to be moved into regions?

The information going into those 5 categories is a teaser from those specific pages, yes? Can I have the other regions, i.e. content top, bottom left/right, etc...all have teasers from specific pages? If so, can you please elaborate or possibly direct me to an archive or tutorial that can help me do something like this?

Thank you

I greatly appreciate your reply. I did what you said and that is a good solution, thank you. For some reason my sidebar isnt flush with the content top box. There's a huge gap between the headline and the sidebar. Like a 80px gap, haha. Its pretty noticeable...

I see on your site it's flush with the content top and 10px under the headline box. Any suggestions?

Thanks

nix that. Figured that out. Sorry for the comment.

The categories can be put in any region and as long as the right code and input format is used, it will work - the content regions will display three in a row only though, since they are not the full width.

so, just drag the block you made with the category ribbon to where ever you want it on the block admin page.

The information going into ribbon is a teaser from those specific pages, yes? Can I have the other regions, i.e. content top, bottom left/right, etc...all have teasers from specific pages? They are just blocks and you create them the same way you created other blocks.

Teaser blocks are not standard functionality, so you must have created them somehow. after creating the blocks, you can drop them in any region you so wish.

That is totally unrelated with the theme and it will depend on how you have your site set up.

does this show nested under teh comment it is a reply to?

badly.

it seems that no matter what the parent comment is of a comment that they get listed in date order, this makes the theme unusable in my opinion

It depends on the settings on your site.

Over here, I have the node settings to display the comments ordered by date and without nesting. That is a personal preference. but that is not something that is applied in the theme - there you can allow nesting if you so wish.

Hi,

Thank you for converting this to Drupal. Love it!

I just wanted to bring to your attention a couple of issues in the queue over at Drupal.

How do you get the drop down menu working? I tried changing it in /admin/build/menu by placing the menu items below, like threaded, but nothing happens.

Thanks again!

You also need to tick the "expanded" option for the parent menu item.

Thank you! Got it working. Brilliant.

Hello,

I have the parent pages checked to expand, but for some reason it only expands one level down. If there are 5 pages under one parent, the first will show up, but the other 4 will not. What am I doing wrong? Im sure its something simple...

Thanks

You need to check the expanded option for ALL the levels for the menu to work.

But something to be aware of - I do not think the current drop down works beyond two levels.

I think the menus are overlapping. Because when I roll over the drop down, and I move it slightly, it tells me another page is underneat, or slightly to the left...

I use Arthemia theme, but have troyuble with comments form. it always collapsed! I try to set in admin/content/node-type/blog expanded but it doesn't help...
How can i fix it?

Hi it's great you have another release (6.x-2.0) but there are several bug reports and CSS modifications still required for 6.x-1.1 to make this theme ready for use out of the box.

It would be appreciated if those could be addressed.
